Enza Zaden Australia Pty Ltd is based in Narromine, New South Wales. Our focus is on the development of new onion, cauliflower, lettuce and pumpkin, varieties. Owing to recent changes at our station in Narromine, NSW, we are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated candidate for the position of: Senior Plant Breeder - Onion. 

The role.

As Senior Breeder in our Onion team in Narromine, Australia you will be responsible for the development and improvement of new onion varieties. You will build and maintain a number of breeding programs that will be managed under your direction. You will report to the Onion Crop Breeding Manager. You will be part of the local team focusing on building and maintaining the Short day onion breeding program and part of the global onion team for Intermediate and Long day onions.

The candidate.

• You are a result driven and creative breeder with excellent analytical, communication and management skills.
• You have an MSc or PhD education level and preferably you will have at least 5 years’ experience in breeding.
• You will be capable of translating scientific research into breeding practice, possess strong interpersonal, team leadership and communication skills, be creative, driven by curiosity, and be a practical hands person.
• You must be able to demonstrate the ability to work accurately and maintain records within a plant breeding database.
• Higher level computing skills are essential.
• The successful candidate must have proficient spoken and written English and communication skills.
• Applicants will be required to travel extensively.
• Finally you must also have the ability to work legally in Australia.
