Assistant Research Farm Supervisor
Location: Caldwell, Idaho, USA Job Title: Assistant Research Farm Supervisor, Caldwell ID Department: Product Development / Caldwell Research Facility
Summary / Role Purpose:
Accountable for cultural activities at the Idaho Research and Product Development Station. This includes accountability for best farming and cultural practices to obtain proper genetic expression in all plots. Reporting to this position: Up to 30 seasonal or part time employees.
Essential Duties / Responsibilities / Accountabilities:
- Assists in supervision of the day-to-day activities of the Idaho Research Facility, including but not limited to, field map preparation, planting, crop cultivation and harvest.
- Supervises greenhouse activities including planting and transplants.
- Supervises temporary, seasonal employees in field and greenhouse work.
- Assist in the receiving, conditioning, packaging and shipping of production seed lots.
- Assist in achieving and maintaining seed lot integrity in all production seed lots per A&C standards.
- Assist in all other assigned duties as necessary.
Competencies:
Knowledge Skills & Experience:
- Four-year college degree in an agricultural related field, or five years experience in seed research.
- Equipment maintenance.
- Temporary labor supervisory skills
- Metal fabrication and carpentry skills desirable.
Critical Skills:
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Keyboarding and computer knowledge (MS word, MS Excel, Access and Outlook)
- Good organizational skills
- Valid (or able to obtain) Idaho Pesticide Applicators license.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish desirable.
Critical Experience:
- Valid state drivers license
- Row crop farming experience.
