Bayer CropScience unveils state-of-the-art $6.5 million packaging facility to better serve the needs of the growing Canadian agriculture market

Calgary, Alberta, Canada
November 13, 2014

Bayer CropScience is adding to Canada’s already strong leadership position in the global agricultural market today unveiling the improvements of the largest Formulation, Filling and Packaging Emulsifiable Concentrate facility in Regina, Saskatchewan.

The facility was first built in the early 1980’s in Regina, the heart of Canada’s agricultural market. Continuing its investment, Bayer CropScience has recently spent $6.5 million upgrading the world-class facility with new state-of-the-art fill and pack lines designed to increase capacity, flexibility and efficiency for future growth opportunities for a vibrant agriculture sector. Today, the Regina Site is 161,000 sq. feet covering 11.6 acres, producing 30 million litres annually across 40 products, including 8.1 mkgs of treated seeds.

“The investment in our Regina formulation, filling and packaging facility is a logical step in our strategic journey,” said Kamel Beliazi, President and CEO of Bayer CropScience Inc. “It reinforces our commitment to Canadian agriculture and providing Canadian growers with innovative solutions to tackle the challenge of feeding the world.”

Plans for the renovations started in early 2011, with the goal of developing the site into a world-class facility that can support market demands well into the future. This investment demonstrates the confidence Bayer CropScience has in both the city of Regina and the province of Saskatchewan.

“With a strong Product Supply Team located in Regina and distribution partners across Canada, we are better able to meet customer needs and demands by producing, importing and distributing the entire line of Bayer CropScience products to Canadian growers,” explained Dianna Emperingham, Director of Product Supply for Bayer CropScience. “Most importantly this improved facility is an ongoing commitment to our employees, which has always been our number one priority.”

Today the Regina Product Supply Team employs over 140 full time and seasonal employees. As part of Bayer CropScience’s ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship this facility is also ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and AWSA/CropLife Certified.
