Persistence Market Research Pvt. Ltd has released new forthcoming report on title "Dicamba Market: Global Industry Analysis and Forecast to 2015 to 2021".
Dicamba is a popular herbicide which was first approved in 1962 and is registered in about 100 countries. Dicamba functions by increasing the plant growth rate and eliminating other unnecessary plant growth. It is a derivative of benzoic acid and is an organochloride. It is toxic to conifer species but is less toxic to grasses. Dicamba has great market prospects but the production technology for dicamba is very sophisticated. It has a mode of action similar to that of endogenous auxin and other auxin-type herbicides and involves cell wall plasticity and nucleic acid metabolism. It has moderate toxicity and does not present any handling hazards. Compared to other herbicides, dicamba has low dosage, low cost, superior performance and less environmental impact. Due to emergence of herbicide resistant weeds, the effectiveness of conventional herbicides has reduced considerably and dicamba plays a significant role in weed control.

Dicamba is generally used as a selective herbicide and its color varies from brown to white. It is registered for use in agriculture, amenity turf, lawns and forests among others. It works by hindering plant growth and penetrates leaves, stems and roots of unwanted plants and especially builds up in the growing tissues. In agricultural applications, dicamba is registered for use on rye, asparagus, corn, barley, oats, soybeans, sugarcane and wheat among others. Dicamba works by mimicking naturally occurring plant hormone and causes uncontrollable growth in the targeted weed. At high levels of exposure the growth becomes so severe that the unwanted plant dies of as a result. Dicamba is used to treat number of weeds including yellow suckling clover, yarrow, selfheal, creeping buttercup, cat's ear, common chickweed, white clover, common sorrel, daisy, dandelion and hawkweed among others.
Increasing awareness of crop protection, adoption of high end technologies and utilization of effective herbicides will be the key driving factors for dicamba market. In addition shrinking arable land and shift in the farming practices will be other major influencing factors for dicamba market. However, some weed species have developed resistance to dicamba which could hamper the growth of this market.
Asia Pacific, especially China and India, are the fastest growing markets for Dicamba. Rapid urbanization and growing population has lead to increase in food production in emerging economies. However, at the same time the falling ratio of arable land to population is a major concern for these economies. Majority of world's crop protection is lost to pests and weed. Dicamba helps to reduce the crops losses by eliminating weed and ensuring stability in food prices. Latin America and North America are also expected to grow at a higher rate and account for a bigger share of dicamba market.
Some of the key players in this market are Monsanto, Dupont, Syngenta, Bayer, Makhteshim Agan, NuFarm, Arystya Lifescience, Rotam, BASF and Dow Agrosciences among others. BASF SE, the world's largest chemical maker, has plans to increase the output of dicamba at its Texas plant to meet the anticipated demand from a new generation of genetically modified crops. Rotam has introduced a new dicamba product in European market under the brand name Oceal. The firm has already registered dicamba products in Italy, UK and France. It also plans to increase its presence in the U.S. with the introduction of new dicamba products under the brand name Topeka.
