INCOTEC’s Focus2 Grow Seed Treatment event big success!

Enkhuizen, The Netherlands
September 30, 2009

On the 24th of September INCOTEC received more than 100 visitors from the seed industry and plant protection industry for the Focus2 Grow Seed Treatment event at its brand new facility in Enkhuizen.

Very interesting presentations about the latest developments in seed treatments were given by several speakers. This resulted in many questions and good discussions regarding the future opportunities of seed treatments. The role of each player in the chain was mentioned as being crucial in the making of safe and secure seed treatments possible and the fact that further success of seed treatments is only possible if all stakeholders work together on good practices.

Quality aspects on all levels, from seed producer to the farmer planting the treated seeds in the field, must be considered. Optimal quality can only be obtained by setting the right requirements for all players in the chain. Several speakers pointed out that optimal application methods by professionals using high quality film coat liquids are essential for the further success of the usage of seed treatments. The increasing number of products being put on seed which results in an increasing loading on the seed demands extremely innovative and industrial application technologies.

In the course of the day INCOTEC demonstrated several of the unique and exiting innovations the company has been developing in recent years.

Avoiding dust on treated seeds has been indicated as one of the most important quality aspect next to a good seed to seed distribution of the Plant Protection Product and a good germination of the treated seeds. During the event the dust abrasion Heubach test was demonstrated and shown to be an important tool to measure dust coming from seed during abrasion that can occur during transport and sowing of the seeds.

The conclusions of the day were that seed treatment is a strong growing market and that further growth is only possible if we continue to innovate and work together on good seed treatment practices based on solid quality schemes.

Considering the amount of positive feedback received about this day INCOTEC is considering organizing a similar event next year. The company is open to suggestions for new topics.
