India - Prices of onions being monitored, show declining trends in Nasik

The Government is continuously monitoring the prices, arrivals and availability of onion in procuring centres of Mahrashtra as well as Azadpur APMC yard, New Delhi.

As per information compiled by NAFED, the wholesale prices of onion in Maharashtra (Lasalgaon and Pimpalgaon mandis ) as on 1.12.2010 are ruling between Rs.200 to Rs. 2850 per qtl. with modal rate of Rs.1200 per qtl ( new crop) and Rs.1100 per qtl to 2929 per qtl. with modal rate of Rs.2000 per qtl. (old crop) out of total arrivals of 11200 qtls. Market rate of FAQ and above onion is in between Rs.1600 to Rs.1800 for new onion and Rs.2600 to Rs.2800 for old onion. Similarly, the wholesale prices of onion in Azadpur mandi are ruling between Rs.1500 to Rs.2200 per qtl. with modal rate of Rs. 1850 per qtl. for Rajasthan variety and Rs.2000-2500 p.q. with modal rate of Rs.2250 p.qtl. for MP variety out of total arrivals of 23000 qtls.

As per the report of onion given by NAFED, Nasik Branch, the prices of onion in Nasik mandi have started showing declining trend.
