BASF announces expanded U.S. label for Stamina F3 HL fungicide seed treatment at ASTA Seed Expo 2010

Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, USA
December 8, 2010

Stamina® F3 HL fungicide seed treatment is now available for use on corn, sorghum, rye, oats and triticale, in addition to wheat and barley, which were previously approved. The label expansion is one of several updates provided to seed industry partners regarding the BASF SeedSolutions portfolio and crop protection products during the 40th annual American Seed Trade Association’s (ASTA) 2010 Seed Expo in Chicago.

“BASF is focused on continuing to develop the SeedSolutions portfolio and other innovative crop protection products to help growers maximize seed investments and get the most out of every acre,” said Chris Exton, Marketing Manager, Seed Treatments for BASF Crop Protection.

Stamina F3 HL fungicide seed treatment offers outstanding protection with the best seed vitality and innovative technology, thus fulfilling the needs of both farmers and seed industry partners. Stamina contains F500®, the same active ingredient in Headline® fungicide, which inhibits respiration in many fungal pathogens, depriving them of energy for growth and development.

The new label for Stamina F3 HL not only expands the number of crops on which the product can be used, it also recognizes the product’s ability to improve seedling performance (more rapid and increased emergence) in certain cold weather conditions.

“Seed treatments are an important part of best management practices for growers,” Exton said. “Stamina F3 HL protects seedlings from disease, and is proven to help give crops a strong start even in cold growing conditions.”

In addition to Stamina F3 HL, the BASF SeedSolutions portfolio includes: Charter® and Charter® F² fungicide seed treatment formulations for wheat, barley, oats, rye and triticale; Acquire® fungicide seed treatment for numerous crops; Coronet® fungicide seed treatment for certain vegetable crops; Axcess® insecticide seed treatment for numerous crops; and Stamina fungicide seed treatment for corn, wheat, barley, peas, beans, cotton, sunflowers, lentils, alfalfa and other crops. Refer to the product label for a complete list of approved crops.

Growers can also protect seed investments and improve yield potential by utilizing BASF Crop Protection products, including:

  • Headline® fungicide – Headline is the most researched fungicide on the market, and provides excellent disease control and Plant Health benefits. These benefits, such as improved stress tolerance and improved growth efficiency through better use of nitrogen fertilizer, mean healthier plants and higher yield potential.
  • Headline AMP™ fungicide – No fungicide provides more corn per acre than Headline AMP, which is a combination of, F500®, the same active ingredient in Headline with the addition of a unique, best-in-class triazole.
  • Kixor® herbicide technology – Kixor family of products is the only pyrimidinedione family on the market and provides broad-spectrum control of more than 70 tough broadleaf weeds, including ALS-, triazine-, and glyphosate-resistant biotypes. Kixor is one of the most flexible and versatile herbicide technologies on the market and can be used on a wide range of crops.
