Kumiai Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. and Ihara Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. have granted BASF the exclusive right to develop and commercialize solo herbicide products with Pyroxasulfone for corn, soybeans, wheat and sunflower in the United States and Canada.

BASF anticipates introducing its first product with this technology under the brand name Zidua® herbicide in the United States in 2012.

The NSA has conducted extensive research on this compound in multiple locations in ND, SD, KS, and CO. The results are very promising with good residual control of most broadleaf and grassy weeds.

This is a pre-emerge product and rainfall is required for incorporation.

The experimental product was known as KIH-485.

There is no time table available at this writing for the sunflower registration.
