Bayer CropScience and Reitzel Groupe, an international food company located in Aigle/Switzerland, plan to expand their collaboration on the sustainable production of high-quality gherkins to all contract farmers of Reitzel India. A respective Letter of Intent was signed today at the Fruit Logistica in Berlin, Germany.
Since 2009, both partners have been working together in this food chain partnership project. The aim of the project is to improve the yield and the quality of gherkins by developing and implementing good agricultural practices (GAP), working on the frame of sustainable agriculture and food safety regulations.
In this partnership, Bayer CropScience offers Reitzel and Indian farmers innovative crop protection solutions and technical expertise. In order to preserve natural resources, farmers have been advised and trained on GAP including modern cultivation methods, the safe use of crop protection products and improved water management. Nunhems, Bayer CropScience’s vegetable seed business, provides Ajax, a high-yielding hybrid gherkin variety with good processing qualities.
Reitzel’s agri-technicians support farmers with expertise on gherkin cultivation, trade requirements and customer specifications. This partnership helps to ensure a continuous supply of fresh and high-quality gherkins to the Reitzel factories in India and France as well as for the export to various countries. The Indian farmers benefit by a substantial increase of their income and the French consumer by all-year availability of fresh and healthy gherkins.

Erfolgreiche Partnerschaft mit der Lebensmittelindustrie: Bayer CropScience und Reitzel-Gruppe weiten nachhaltige Produktion qualitativ hochwertiger Gewürzgurken in Indien aus
Bayer CropScience und die Reitzel-Gruppe, ein internationales Handelsunternehmen mit Sitz in Aigle/Schweiz, planen, ihre Zusammenarbeit bei der nachhaltigen Produktion von qualitativ hochwertigen Gewürzgurken auf alle Vertragsanbauer von Reitzel India auszudehnen. Eine entsprechende Absichtserklärung wurde heute auf der Fruit Logistica in Berlin unterzeichnet. Beide Partner arbeiten seit dem Jahr 2009 in einem Food-Chain-Partnership-Projekt zusammen. Ziele des Projekts sind die Erhöhung des Gurkenertrags und die Verbesserung der Gurkenqualität durch die gemeinsame Entwicklung und Umsetzung guter landwirtschaftlicher Praxis, die sich aus den Prinzipien nachhaltiger Landwirtschaft und den Vorschriften zur Lebensmittelsicherheit ableitet.
Im Rahmen dieser Partnerschaft bietet Bayer CropScience Reitzel und den indischen Landwirten innovative Pflanzenschutzlösungen und technisches Know-how. Um natürliche Ressourcen zu erhalten, werden die indischen Landwirte auf dem Gebiet guter landwirtschaftlicher Praxis beraten und geschult. Dabei geht es unter anderem um moderne Anbaumethoden, die sichere Anwendung von Pflanzenschutzmitteln und um ein optimiertes Wassermanagement. Nunhems, das Gemüsesaatgut-Geschäft von Bayer CropScience, stellt eine Hochertrags-Hybrid-Gewürzgurkensorte mit guten Verarbeitungsqualitäten namens Ajax zur Verfügung.
Die Agrotechniker von Reitzel unterstützen die Landwirte mit ihrem Fachwissen über den Gewürzgurkenanbau, über Anforderungen des Handels und über Kundenspezifikationen. Diese Partnerschaft hilft bei der Sicherstellung der kontinuierlichen Lieferung hochwertiger Gewürzgurken an die Verarbeitungsfirmen von Reitzel in Indien und Frankreich sowie beim Export von Gewürzgurken in verschiedene Länder. Die indischen Landwirte profitieren von einer deutlichen Zunahme ihres Einkommens und die Verbraucher von der ganzjährigen Verfügbarkeit von kontrolliert angebauten Gewürzgurken.
