Herbicide resistant alfalfa varieties again available from Syngenta - Deregulation of Genuity Roundup Ready alfalfa technology provides U.S. growers with additional management choices to improve yields

Minnetonka, Minnesoat, USA
February 15, 2011

After the recent U.S. Department of Agriculture deregulation of herbicide resistant alfalfa, Syngenta Seeds, Inc. announced today that it will once again offer under the NK® brand a full portfolio of alfalfa varieties with Genuity® Roundup Ready® technology. These alfalfa varieties feature the Genuity Roundup Ready herbicide resistant trait, providing growers more management options.

The following NK brand alfalfa varieties with the Genuity Roundup Ready trait are available now from local Garst® or Golden Harvest® dealers or NK retailers for planting in 2011.

  • 6443RR, a proven performer with outstanding winter hardiness, a full FD4 variety and a top quality forage for dairies;
  • GH709RR, a variety that produces high quality forage from first cut to last with excellent multi-foliate expression and outstanding winter hardiness;
  • Revolution, a variety with rapid recovery for high yields of high-quality hay;
  • Liberator, a variety similar to Genoa with the same great yield, quality and persistence, it includes enhanced stand establishment and flexible weed control options; and
  • Pinal 9, a high-yielding fine-stemmed FD9 variety for fuller season growing areas of Arizona and southern California.

Growers can contact their Garst, Golden Harvest or NK representative to determine the best products for their specific alfalfa needs.

Hay products from Genuity Roundup Ready alfalfa are approved for import in Japan, Canada, Mexico, Korea, Australia, New Zealand and the Philippines.
