QUINVITA launches two new cultivars in its QUINVITA PRO (QVP) seed product portfolio
The Industrial Crops Technology Company, QUINVITA announces today the selection of two new cultivars in the QUINVITA PRO (QVP) seeds product portfolio: QVP 1003 and QVP 1064. Both these cultivars have been selected in the global breeding program of QUINVITA on the basis of high performance for several yield components of Jatropha curcas (oil content, fruits per bunch, bunches per season). QVP 1003 and QVP 1064 have entered the QUINVITA product placement trial network and the QVP seed production program. Seed of these cultivars will be available for preferred customers of QUINVITA for the 2011-2012 planting seasons.

These two new QVP cultivars complement the existing QVP product portfolio of 8 different high yielding cultivars with a diverse adaptation pattern across the cultivation zones of Jatropha around the world.

The cultivars QVP 3007, QVP 3008, QVP 3009, QVP 3001 and QVP 3028 have been selected in the India focused breeding efforts of the company and are in the QUINVITA product placement trial network in India, Africa and SEA. These cultivars show very good performance in different locations, also outside India.

The cultivar QVP 3014 has been selected in the Africa focused breeding efforts of the company and has been used as a standard cultivar in the product placement trial program of QUINVITA and shows good performance also outside Africa.

The cultivars QVP 1010 and QVP 1011 have been selected in the South East Asia focused breeding efforts of the company and are in the QUINVITA product placement trial network in India, Africa, SEA and Central America. Both cultivars show very good performance in several locations also outside South East Asia.

All these cultivars were selected as the best performers in multi-year trials. These science based trials are designed to compare lines resulting from the proprietary breeding program of QUINVITA. All these cultivars are in the QUINVITA PRO commercial seed production stage. In this program, true to type seed is produced of the cultivars selected in the QUINVITA global breeding effort.

The QVP seed production program is following a set of strict quality assurance guidelines guaranteeing necessary isolation distances, proper cultivation, harvesting and storage conditions (optimizing maximum germination potential) and pest and disease management programs guaranteeing the production of high quality seeds. For the 8 advanced cultivars in the QVP cultivar portfolio, commercial quantities of seed are available today for the preferred customers of QUINVITA. Seed of QVP 3014 is also available for general sale.
