Peterson Farms Seed’s annual Groundbreaker Field Day will be held Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011 with a full line-up of guest speakers, ag displays, information about Plus20 Agronomy club membership and tours of Peterson Farms Seed replicated seed plots and facilities.

Corn and soybean growers will want to mark the date on their calendars and make plans to attend this event, the largest field day in the upper Midwest.

  • A soybean disease clinic focusing on diseases in a stressful year like this one conducted by Karen Corrigan, MC Agronomics, Iowa City, Ia.
  • A Tiled vs. Untiled comparison, including remarkable photographs of side-by-side fields in the valley.
  • Planter speed and population study results that will give growers some food for thought prior to next spring’s planting
  • Photographs and information including a map detailing this year’s movement of resistant weeds in our region.
  • Corn Earworm Feeding Demonstration, showing live bugs.
  • Exhibits will also include further information about Single-Bag-Solution corn hybrids (no more structured refuge); LibertyLink soybeans; How-To’s of Corn Pre-Harvest Evaluations; and Roundup2Yield soybeans.

The event begins at 1pm with tours throughout the plots and to the speaker tents running at 1:00, 2:00 and 3:00.

All regional growers are welcome to attend this event at Peterson Farms Seed. Those traveling on I-94 should take the Mapleton exit and then go 6 miles north and 1 mile east on County Hwy 22. I-29 travelers should exit on the Harwood exit, go 1.5 miles west and then south until the intersection of County Hwy 22 and then travel 6 miles west.
