Heritage Seeds acquires Seedmark

Adelaide, South Australia
March 9, 2012

Heritage Seeds announced it will join forces with Seedmark, reinforcing its long term commitment to the Australian pasture and forage seed industry and delivering even greater improvements in farmer productivity.

The partnership will enable the “new” Heritage Seeds to offer a broader range of pasture and forage seeds, plus the Seedmark range of field crops.

Both companies have product ranges that will fit extremely well together and provide more effective coverage across all the main pasture markets from North Queensland to Tasmania and across to WA.

Research has always been a driving force for both companies and the acquisition will enable even greater efficiencies and productivity gains from the combined investment in research which includes the cutting edge Research Farm at Howlong on the New South Wales, Victorian border.

Heritage Seeds Chief Executive, Peter Young, said the acquisition will result in a broader, more extensive product and service offering from the one organization.

“The feedback from our distribution partners is clear. They want to work with seed suppliers with a strong commitment to R&D, a broad range of market leading products, effective in-field sales and technical support, responsive customer service and to get the right product at the right time”.

“The acquisition will allow us to bring two very complementary product ranges together, leverage our investment in research even more to enhance the flow of new products, provide broader coverage of our sales and customer service teams, and better utilise our logistics capabilities including our soon to open, state of the art facility in Melbourne.

Craig Myall, General Manager of Seedmark said the acquisition represented some excellent synergies and product development opportunities.

“The two product ranges fit very well together and the combination of our considerable investments in research along with the expertise and knowledge of our people will enable us to deliver even greater value to both our farmer and retail customers,” added Mr Myall.

“As a business, we are committed to investing not only in better performing pastures, but also the improved productivity of Australian farmers. This partnership will enable us to deliver on our vision,” concluded Mr Young.

National Marketing and Sales Manager Roger Boyce, said that sales and customer service would remain as “business as usual” for both companies until the middle of this year, to ensure there is no disruption to customers during the autumn planting season.

“Our focus right now is on assisting our retail customers and farmers during the peak Autumn period, in what is looking like an outstanding start to the year in most areas,” said Mr Boyce. replica handbags sale replica handbags

“An integration team has been established and the transition will be a gradual process. We will keep our customers informed via our management, sales and customer service teams” added Mr Boyce.
