Becker Underwood's growth continues with addition of two new team members

Ames, Iowa, USA
April 18, 2012

Strong growth continues to spur expansion of Becker Underwood’s United States and Mexico operations with the addition of two new team members.

Sherman Hollins has recently been named the new regional sales manager for the eastern and southern U.S. and will be headquartered in North Carolina. He will be responsible for sales covering 17 states. Hollins comes to Becker Underwood with 24 years sales and marketing experience in agricultural consumer products.

Mike McFatrich, national sales manager for Becker Underwood, believes Hollins will be a good fit for the expanding company. “Sherman brings a strong set of skills and talents to our sales team. He will be working with a group of exceptional sales professionals,” said McFatrich. “Sherman, in his role as regional sales manager, is set to continue the momentum in the region and build upon the success our sales team has achieved in recent seasons in the East and South.”

Hollins, originally from Orion, Ill., earned his bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics from University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, Ill., and his master’s degree in business administration from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa.

Also joining Becker Underwood this month is Dan Kuester, a marketing communications specialist in agricultural products which include beneficial nematodes, inoculants and seed enhancements. Kuester will work in the company’s headquarters in Ames, Iowa. He brings 25 years of experience working in communications including radio, television and print advertising, as well as copywriting and public relations experience.

“We have no doubt Dan will be an important part of our team,” said Charles Whitt, communications manager for Becker Underwood. “Our company’s growth over the last several years has led to a need for someone with Dan’s ability and experience. He will be working on the introduction of an array of innovative new products. Included among these are a growing lineup of products that take advantage of relationships between plants and naturally occurring microorganisms which can be harnessed to help improve crop performance. Dan’s background is a perfect fit for us.”

Most recently, Kuester worked for Iowa State University in university relations. He earned his bachelor’s degree in communications from Luther College, Decorah, Iowa, and his master’s in communications from Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa.
