Strategic publishing partnership announced by prominent U.S. science societies - Alliance of crop, soil, and environmental science societies to provide publication management and marketing

Madison, Wisconsin, USA
May 1, 2012

The Alliance of Crop, Soil, and Environmental Science Societies (ACSESS) is pleased to announce it has reached a publishing agreement with the American Society of Animal Science (ASAS). This partnership, newly formed by ACSESS, will provide state of the art publication processes, along with management and support to best advance the value, image, and marketing of ASAS publications.

This newest agreement is consistent with the strategic plan for ACSESS to provide a full-spectrum of high quality management and administration services to nonprofit scientific societies. ACSESS will provide publishing services for the ASAS Journal of Animal Science, along with the ASAS member magazine, Animal Frontiers. Services will include managing manuscript submissions and the peer-review process, copyediting, proofreading, layout, design, and file preparation for all electronic and print production. In addition, ACSESS will market and promote these historic publications.

“We are pleased about this new partnership with ASAS and know it will help grow our publishing goals,” says ACSESS CEO Ellen Bergfeld.

Steve Zinn of ASAS says, “As Editor-in Chief, I am looking forward to working with ACSESS as we continue to improve the Journal of Animal Science and Animal Frontiers.”

This new partnership is being implemented immediately, with ACSESS providing publication management and marketing support to the ASAS journal and magazine, currently in production.

ACSESS is a nonprofit organization providing management and administrative support to its founding members: the American Society of Agronomy (ASA), Crop Science Society of America (CSSA), and Soil Science Society of America (SSSA). It is the proud publisher of seven scientific journals, two magazines, an on-line only publication, books and monographs, along with a variety of indexes, glossaries, and educational aids.

The Crop Science Society of America (CSSA), founded in 1955, is an international scientific society comprised of 6,000+ members with its headquarters in Madison, WI. Members advance the discipline of crop science by acquiring and disseminating information about crop breeding and genetics; crop physiology; crop ecology, management, and quality; seed physiology, production, and technology; turfgrass science; forage and grazinglands; genomics, molecular genetics, and biotechnology; and biomedical and enhanced plants.

CSSA fosters the transfer of knowledge through an array of programs and services, including publications, meetings, career services, and science policy initiatives.
