ISTA Seminar on Statistics in Seed Testing

Location: Canadian Food Inspection Agency, Ottawa, Canada
Date: September 26-28, 2012
Lecturers: Jean-Louis Laffont, Kirk Remund, Bonnie Hong, Tim Perez, Zivan Karaman, Gabriel Carré

The aim of the seminar is to provide a forum where seed testing professionals can increase there level of understanding of statistical methods/analysis associated with seed testing and to gain confidence in using statistical tools that have been provided by the ISTA Statistics Committee.
Past seminars have also included very useful discussions between lecturers and participants on statistics best practices in their labs.

Participation is open to both ISTA members and non-members.

Registration is possible until June 29, 2012.

ISTA Workshop on Vigour

Location: 20/20 Seed Labs Inc., Nisku, Canada
Date: September 11-14, 2012
Lecturers: Alison Powell, Stan Matthews, Bob Elliott

Workshop Content:
- Introduction to seed vigour and its importance in crop production
- Conductivity test
- Controlled deterioration test
- Radicle emergence test: development and validation
- Accelerated ageing test for soyabeans
- Seed vigour and seed treatments
- Physiological basis of seed vigour
- Factors affecting seed vigour
- Future developments in vigour testing

Participation is open to both ISTA members and non-members.

ISTA Workshop on Germination

Location: CFIA seed laboratory in Saskatoon, Canada
Date: September 17-19, 2012
Lecturers: Sylvie Ducournau, Kari Fiedler

This workshop aims at presenting and discussing the principles of the ISTA germination test, seedling evaluations for different species, results calculations and reporting plus aspects of quality management linked to germination testing.

Participation is open to both ISTA members and non-members.

Registration is possible until August 1, 2012.
