Major redevelopment of Syngenta headquarters

Basel, Switzerland
July 2, 2012

Syngenta is making a significant investment in the modernization of its Basel headquarters. The move underlines the importance of the site and the company’s commitment to Basel and the northwest Switzerland region. For the circa 1,500 Syngenta employees on the site, who represent more than 50 nationalities, the modernization will result in a contemporary working environment that reflects the company’s focus on innovation.

Syngenta already announced in 2010 the renovation of two office buildings, including the creation of multi-office areas, work on which has already begun. A more comprehensive redevelopment of the Rosental headquarters was subsequently approved by the Syngenta Board of Directors in May 2012. The redevelopment will incorporate an integrated conference and meeting area, new restaurant facilities and a large outdoor green space.

Building permits for these projects were recently issued to Syngenta by the Canton of Basel Stadt. In addition, plans are being drawn up with a renowned architect for an additional office building and visitors’ entrance facing on to the Schwarzwaldallee. A full proposal will be submitted to the City of Basel building department and the cantonal authorities over the coming months.
