Syngenta today announced a $50 million investment to build a new processing plant for corn and sunflower seeds in Argentina. The announcement followed a meeting between President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner and Mike Mack, Chief Executive Officer of Syngenta, at which the company’s long term commitment to Argentine agriculture was confirmed.
The plant, located in the country’s central region, will supply Argentina and other key markets globally. It will create over 2,000 jobs, including 350 direct employees. Syngenta is also expanding facilities at seed production farms and continues to invest in seed development at its network of field stations: total investment over the next 12 months will be close to $100 million.
Mike Mack said: “With its wealth of agricultural resources, Argentina is ideally placed to help satisfy growing global demand for food and feed. This latest investment by Syngenta follows our recent introductions of innovative seed technologies and further demonstrates our commitment to the Argentine market, as well as our confidence in the global growth of our corn and sunflower businesses.”

Syngenta hat heute ein Investitionsvorhaben in Höhe von USD 50 Millionen für den Bau einer neuen Anlage zur Verarbeitung von Mais- und Sonnenblumensaatgut in Argentinien bekannt gegeben. Die Mitteilung folgte auf ein Treffen zwischen Staatspräsidentin Cristina Fernández de Kirchner und Syngenta CEO Mike Mack, in dessen Verlauf das langfristige Engagement des Unternehmens zugunsten der argentinischen Landwirtschaft bekräftigt wurde.
Die in der zentralen Region des Landes gelegene Fabrik wird Argentinien und andere wichtige Märkte weltweit beliefern und über 2'000 Arbeitsplätze schaffen, darunter 350 für festangestellte Mitarbeitende. Darüber hinaus erweitert Syngenta die Einrichtungen von Saatgutproduktionsbetrieben und investiert innerhalb des eigenen Netzwerks von Feldstationen weiter in die Saatgutentwicklung: Innerhalb der nächsten zwölf Monate werden sich die Gesamtinvestitionen auf nahezu USD 100 Millionen belaufen.

Syngenta a annoncé aujourd’hui qu’elle va investir USD 50 millions dans la construction d'une nouvelle usine de transformation des semences de maïs et de tournesol en Argentine. Cette annonce fait suite à une réunion entre la présidente Cristina Fernández de Kirchner et Mike Mack, Chief Executive Officer de Syngenta, qui a confirmé l’engagement à long terme de l’entreprise dans l’agriculture argentine.
L’usine, située dans le centre du pays, fournira le marché argentin ainsi que d’autres marchés clés dans le monde. Elle engendrera la création de 2 000 emplois, dont 350 emplois directs. Syngenta agrandira également ses infrastructures dans les unités de production de semences et continuera à investir dans le développement des semences dans son réseau de stations de plein champ. Le montant total de l'investissement, étalé sur les 12 mois à venir, avoisinera les USD 100 millions.
Mike Mack a déclaré: «Avec sa richesse en ressources agricoles, l’Argentine est idéalement placée pour contribuer à répondre à la demande croissante de denrées alimentaires et fourragères dans le monde.
