QualySense AG is now member of the International Seed Testing Association

Dübendorf, Switzerland
May 17, 2013

QualySense AG is an EMPA-based start-up company that pioneers innovative grain and seed sorting technologies to set new quality standards in the food industry. It announces today that it has become an associate member of the International Seed Testing Association (ISTA).

ISTA, founded in 1924, with the aim to develop and publish standard procedures in the field of seed testing, is inextricably linked with the history of seed testing. With member laboratories in over 70 countries world wide, ISTA membership is truly a global network. ISTA members work together to achieve their vision of 'Uniformity in seed quality evaluation worldwide'. The Association produces internationally agreed rules for seed sampling and testing, accredits laboratories, promotes research, provides international seed analysis certificates and training, and disseminates knowledge in seed science and technology. This facilitates seed trading nationally and internationally, and also contributes to food security.

QualySense’s Project Manager for our Seed Testing Working Group, Marina Helm, says: “We have started an important project with some ISTA accredited seed testing laboratories in Europe, being now an official member of the ISTA association makes our work much more focused and in line with internationally approved and well acknowledged seed testing standards. The ISTA members we are currently working with are all very supportive and open to new ideas that will help improving seed testing procedures in the future.”

QualySense is the worldwide industry leader focused on delivering innovative high-end sorting solutions to achieve optimal processing, quality, and safety of agricultural products. We are the leaders in the development of efficient, high-capacity technologies for analyzing and sorting grains, seeds, and beans according to biochemical and morphological traits. Breeders, seed producers, food processors, and inspection agencies worldwide can now benefit from high-speed non-destructive individual kernel analysis and sorting according to the biochemical and morphological traits of their products. QualySense was founded in 2010 and has been awarded a number of prizes and grants. The company is rapidly growing and has lately received the Swissparks “Best Startup of 2012” award.
