New Zealand - Amendment to the import health standard for onions from Japan

The Ministry for Primary Industries New Zealand (MPI) has issued the import health standard: 152.02: Importation and Clearance of Fresh Fruit & Vegetables into New Zealand with a minor amendment. The import health standard is dated 28 May 2013 and replaces the version dated 30 April 2013 and is available on the MPI website at:

The amendment concerns the removal of Ditylenchus destructor from the additional declaration required for onions (Allium cepa) imported from Japan.
The amended additional declaration to the phytosanitary certificate is now:
The onions in this consignment have:
(i) been inspected in accordance with appropriate official procedures and found to be free from any visually detectable quarantine pests, specified by the New Zealand Ministry for Primary Industries.
Note: the generic phytosanitary certificate declaration contained on the phytosanitary certificate will be considered as equivalent to the above declaration.
AND
(ii) undergone appropriate pest control activities that are effective against:
Puccinia asparagi
OR
been sourced from an area free (verified by an official detection survey) from:
Puccinia asparagi
