The first application in English, Di @ gnoplant ®-Tobacco, interactive and easy to use, allows you to visually identify a hundred diseases and pests of crops in the Solanaceae, the dryer during storage or in the laboratory and to manage them.. © INRA

This first interactive and easy-to-use App in English, Di@gnoplant®-Tobacco, enables the visual identification and management of some one hundred diseases and pests that affect this Solanaceae during growth, in the drier, during storage or even in the laboratory.

Thanks to a collaboration with CORESTA (the Centre for Cooperation in Scientific Research relative to Tobacco) and the University of North Carolina, INRA researchers in the Joint Research Unit for Vine Health and Agroecology are now able to propose the Di@gnoplant®-Tobacco App in English. Interactive and simple to use, it enables the visual identification and management of some one hundred diseases and pests that affect this Solanaceae during growth, in the drier, during storage or even in the laboratory.
It can be used in two ways:

  • based on a series of images, an image identification module is able to gradually classify the cause of the problem found, whether it is a pest or not;
  • for the enlightened, a list by Latin name enables direct access to datasheets which summarise the information available on diseases and pests.  Together with general information, each datasheet proposes three types of content for each pest: a description of the symptoms its causes, its biological characteristics and the methods used for its control.

As both a reference database on almost all the diseases affecting this crop, and an unique and innovative diagnostic tool, this App for use in the field contains 70 datasheets and about 600 images that will rapidly become an essential tool for all investigations on tobacco crops.

  • un module d’identification par l’image permet, grâce à des séries d’images, de sérier progressivement la cause du problème rencontré, qu’il soit parasitaire ou non ;
