Madison, Wisconsin, USA
August 27, 2013

DNASTAR today announced that the University of Giessen has chosen DNASTAR Lasergene Genomics Suite software as its traditional and next-generation sequence assembly and analysis software platform for numerous departments within the university. DNASTAR’s software is now available to a wide range of university scientists, staff and students for any and all traditional and next-gen sequence assembly and analysis work.

A spokesperson for the university said “We are impressed by the wide range of capabilities supported in the DNASTAR genomics software suite. Many of our scientists have been transitioning from traditional Sanger sequencing to next-generation sequencing technologies. With Lasergene, our scientists, staff and students can use a consistent software platform for all of their sequence assembly and analysis projects.”

Tom Schwei, Vice President and General Manager of DNASTAR, stated, “We are very pleased to be selected as the genomic and genetic sequence assembly and analysis tool of choice by the University of Giessen. Through this site license arrangement, a wide range of individuals associated with the university will be able to handle virtually any data and analysis required, regardless of sequencing technology or project size, on their desktop computers. We appreciate the trust placed in our tools and our company by the university and we look forward to continuing to meet their sequence assembly and analysis software needs for many years to come.”

Financial terms of the arrangement were not disclosed.

DNASTAR, Inc., Madison, Wisconsin is a pioneer in the development and sale of software used to increase life scientists’ productivity using their desktop computer or on the Amazon Cloud. DNASTAR’s comprehensive software suite, Lasergene, supports molecular biologists, geneticists, and structural biologists in meeting virtually all of their DNA, RNA, and protein sequence needs, including Sanger and next-generation sequence assembly and analysis, protein sequence and structure analysis, and protein structure prediction with easy to use, affordable, flexible computer software.
