EnviroLogix introduces its second QuickStix kit for Cry2A

Portland, Maine, USA
November 30, 2009

Following the pre-harvest introduction of its Cry2A bulk grain test, EnviroLogix has released its newest rapid test kit for the detection of this trait in corn leaf and single seed.

The QuickStix Kit for Cry2A Leaf & Seed (AS 005 LS) provides yes/no results when testing leaf tissue and single seed samples, and will be used by trait developers, seed breeders, and certifiers worldwide.

Meanwhile, customer adoption continues to grow for the QuickStix Kit for Cry2A Bulk Grain (AS 005 BG). This Kit identifies the presence of Cry2Ab, a novel protein in MON 89034, at levels typically expressed in corn varieties such as Genuity™ VT Triple PRO™. Cry2A will also be present in Genuity SmartStax™ corn varieties, expected to be commercialized in 2010.

“The QuickStix Kit for Cry2A Bulk Grain was first to the market, supporting trait developers and grain exporters in their testing for this trait,” said Simon Varney, Product Manager. “The test was recently expanded to test leaf tissue and single seed in response to our customers' requests for an accurate, reliable, all-inclusive test kit for this new protein.”

The Kit contains strips and disposables for 100 tests, and Extraction Buffer is included in every kit. EnviroLogix also offers a test for Cry2A in the ELISA plate format.
