This week, the UC Davis Asian Plant Breeding Academy (APBA) is holding a session in Khon Kaen, Thailand, hosted by Khon Kaen University. Khon Kaen University is the first university established in Northeastern Thailand and remains the oldest and largest university in the region with special significance for the region’s agriculture.

The core instructors include Dr. Allen Van Deynze and Dr. Rale Gjuric (UC Davis). The program is enriched with interaction and lectures by scientists from the Khon Kaen University and public and private research programs in the region.

The contributing guest lecturers include Dr. Kamol Lertrat, Dr. Prasit Jaisil, Dr. Sanun Jogloy, Dr. Suchila Techawongstien and Dr. Jirawat Sanitchon (Khon Kaen University), Suriyon Suparb (Syngenta) and Werapon Pogradee (Crop Research Institute).

The UC Davis Plant Breeding AcademySM (PBA) is a premium professional certificate program offered in the USA, Europe, Asia and starting this month also in Africa. To date, one hundred thirty three (133) industry breeders have attended the UC Davis PBAs, making it the most significant program of its kind.
