For the second time in a row Nunhems’ carrot variety Romance was awarded the “Best tasting carrot” at the yearly field day of the British Carrot Grower Association in early October. The event was hosted by Tim Bradshaw, Glassford-Hammond LLP and Sherwood Produce Ltd., and attended by growers, supermarket representatives and other members of the carrot industry.

Next to knowledge sharing and demonstrations of the latest industry developments, the event featured a voting contest for the “best tasting carrot.” As in 2012, Romance was chosen as best variety in the show. Visitors could choose from a total of six varieties from various carrot seed companies.

During the Onion and Carrot Conference on November 20 and 21 in Peterborough, Roland Koets, International Carrot Sales Specialist, received the first prize of the competition on behalf of Nunhems from Rodger Hobson, chairman of the British Carrot Grower Association. The prize was a bottle of 12-year-old single malt whiskey. “It is a great honor to receive this award for the second time and I would like to thank everyone who voted for Romance,” Koets said. “In addition, I give all credit for Romance to our breeder, Robert Oostveen, and his team.”
Romance has been present in the market for five years. Its strengths are excellent uniformity and very strong taste, which perform well and consistently during the year. In addition, a uniform shape, good skin finish and bright color are considered outstanding characteristics of Romance. Por segundo año, la variedad de zanahoria de Nunhems, Romance F1, ha sido galardonada como la más sabrosa en el día de campo anual de la Asociación Británica de Productores de Zanahoria que tuvo lugar a principios de octubre. Durante la Conferencia de Cebolla y Zanahoria que tuvo lugar el 20 y 21 de noviembre en Peterboroug, Roland Koets, Especialista internacional de venta de zanahoria, recibió el primer premio del concurso en representación de Nunhems de la mano de Rodger Hobson, presidente de la Asociación de Productores Británicos de Zanahoria. La manifestation était organisée par Tim Bradshaw, Glassford-Hammond LLP et Sherwood Produce Ltd. en présence de producteurs, représentants de supermarchés et professionnels de la carotte industrie.
En plus des ateliers de partage d’informations et des démonstrations sur les derniers développements de l'industrie, un concours a été mis en place pour choisir « la carotte la plus savoureuse ». Comme en 2012, Romance a été largement plébiscitée. Les visiteurs ont pu choisir parmi six variétés de sociétés semencières différentes.
C’est lors de la Conférence sur l’Oignon et la Carotte, les 20 et 21 Novembre dernier à Peterborough, que Rodger Hobson, Président de l’Association Britannique des producteurs de carottes a remis le prix à Roland Koets, Commercial Spécialiste International Carotte : une bouteille de 12 ans d’âge de whisky pur malt. "C'est un grand honneur de recevoir ce prix pour la seconde fois et je tiens à remercier tous ceux qui ont voté pour Romance", a déclaré Roland Koets. «De plus, tout le mérite revient à notre sélectionneur, Robert Oostveen, et à toute son équipe."
