Australia - Bayer CropScience's Brumby 480 SC fungicide registered for use in peanut crops

Australia
November 29, 2013

Australian peanut growers have another innovation from Bayer CropScience to control early leaf spot, late leaf spot and rust diseases with the recent registration of Brumby 480 SC Fungicide (Brumby) for use in peanut crops.

The active ingredient in Brumby, prothioconazole, is a systemic fungicide with long-lasting curative and preventative properties.

Pat English, Technical Advisor at Bayer CropScience in Queensland said, “For peanut growers in Australia, Brumby offers the most potent activity against leaf spots and peanut rust yet.”

“This timely registration will ensure growers are able to use Brumby in the current 2013 to 2014 growing season,” he added.

The Peanut Company of Australia (PCA) has collaborated with Bayer CropScience in large scale trials with Brumby.

Pat Harden, Senior Agronomist for PCA based in Bundaberg said, “We’ve been working with Bayer who has supported trials and demonstrations and attended field days for growers to learn about Brumby.”

“I’m appreciative of the effort Bayer has put into registering this fungicide and its liaison with growers; particularly because of the industry’s small size, new fungicide registrations don’t happen very often,” he added.

Brumby is available to growers through normal distributor outlets.

Brumby® is a registered trademark of the Bayer Group.
