ASTA Vegetable & Flower Seed Conference convenes in Monterey, California

Monterey, California, USA
January 25, 2014

Today the American Seed Trade Association kicked off its 53rd Vegetable & Flower Seed Conference in Monterey, CA. Nearly 800 seed industry professionals are participating with a large number of attendees representing 25 different countries. This meeting continues to be the fastest growing seed conference in the nation.

“ASTA’s Vegetable & Flower Seed Conference offers attendees the opportunity to meet with more seed industry colleagues in one location than they could visit in an entire year,” ASTA President and CEO Andy LaVigne said. “This conference also enables company representatives to assist the association in establishing policy and strategy for addressing the issues that face the American seed industry.”

Highlights of the conference include the General Session focusing on Trends in Fresh Produce, a meeting of the Future Seed Executives, as well as an expansive trading floor and exhibition area.

“Vegetable and flower seed companies play a major role in meeting the world’s growing demand for food,” LaVigne said. “The conference provides attendees the opportunity to network and hear from experts on the latest innovations and research impacting seed technology.”

Founded in 1883, the American Seed Trade Association (ASTA) is one of the oldest trade associations in the United States. Its membership consists of over 700 companies involved in seed production and distribution, plant breeding and related industries in North America. As an authority on plant germplasm, ASTA advocates science and policy issues of industry-wide importance.
