Potato research featured at Grand Forks, North Dakota conference on February 18

The Northern Plains Potato Growers Association's Research Reporting Conference will be held on Feb. 18 at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks.
During the meeting, potato researchers from North Dakota State University and the University of Minnesota will present the results of last year's research.
"This is a great opportunity for growers, industry representatives and others involved in potato production to learn about the latest research results," says Andy Robinson, NDSU Extension Service potato agronomist.
Registration for the conference begins at 8 a.m. on Feb. 18.
Topics are:
- Aphid alert and assessing regional resistance to Colorado potato beetle
- Skin set management in red potatoes through fertility and vine kill practices
- U.S. Department of Agriculture potato research worksite update on screening U.S. potato breeding clones for superior storage and processing characteristics
- U of M potato breeding update
- Validation of the glyphosate testing kit
- NDSU potato breeding and genetics update
- Silver scurf management trials
- Evaluation of nitrogen source and rate on tuber yield and quality in old and new potato fields
- Sensitivity of alternaria solani to fungicides
- Potato agronomy update
