New kind of resistance to potato disease

Wageningen phytopathologists have discovered a new mechanism that increases the resistance of potatoes to Phytophthora infestans.
The new kind of resistance is based on the protein LecRK-I.9 and operates on the outside of the plant cell, explains Klaas Bouwmeester of the Laboratory of Phytopathology, to Resource, magazine of Wageningen UR.
