This year vegetable seed breeder Bejo exhibited at BioFach 2014 in Nuremberg, underlining its commitment to the organic sector. The stand of Bejo Samen GmbH was based in the Nordrhein-Westfalen stand; hall number 7.
“Talking to our visitors at the BioFach, we see they are more aware of the importance of closing the whole organic food production chain”, states Bram Weijland, coordinator of Bejo’s organic affairs.
“We are convinced more organic growers will use organic seed in the future.” Weijland explained. “Also we see that organic seed is going to play a more important role in the “principle approach” that is going to be leading in this year’s revision of the EU-organic regulations”. Bejo is therefore stepping up its potential organic seed production and is now able to offer an even wider range of varieties for different countries, seasons or purposes. From mildew resistant onions to tasty carrots; there are more than 40 species in our organic range.
The fresh and tasty snack carrots of the Bejo variety Miami were a great success, people really enjoyed this healthy snack. Technical speaking the flavour of carrot is a complex mix of sweet, crunchy, fresh, juicy and even bitter components. BioFach provided a good chance to check if these technical arguments were confirmed by tasting by our customers as well. Snack carrots, as well as other carrot varieties with superior flavour stand out from the crowd.
Pieter Gabriëls, Director of Bejo Samen GmbH is very pleased with the success of this exhibition; “We met a lot of customers and we were able to inform them about our organic assortment”.
