DuPont Coragen insecticide now registered in Canada for use on cereals

Mississauga, Ontario, USA
March 31, 2014

DuPont Crop Protection announced today that DuPont™ Coragen® insecticide has been approved for use on cereal crops in Canada for control of grasshoppers, armyworms and cutworms. The new registration also includes a label expansion for use of Coragen® on the rest of Crop Group 1 - root and tuber vegetables, and an update for use on grasses, forages, fodder and the hay group. These additions to the label serve the changing crop protection needs of our grower customers.

Coragen® is powered by DuPont™ Rynaxypyr® (Group 28) with a novel mode of action. It provides broad-spectrum extended control of many key insect pests, from hatching stage all the way through the adult stages of development. Coragen® is also easy on applicators, bees and other beneficials. ¬This label addition covers ground and aerial application.

According to Ray Janssen, Coragen® product manager with DuPont, Coragen® provides the kind of insect defense cereal growers have been looking for.

"We at DuPont are delighted to make Coragen® available to Canadian growers to defend their 36 million acres of cereal crops, says Janssen. With up to fourteen days of control (when weather and temperature are optimal), Coragen® provides growers flexible, long-lasting control of key insect pests. Growers can apply Coragen® as the first Lepidoptera and grasshopper spray of the season to take advantage of the long-lasting control offered by the product, maximizing their crop protection and giving them more time for what matters most. With its combination of performance, flexibility, low use rate, long-lasting protection and no cross-resistance to other chemistries, we're confident that Coragen® will become growers' trusted choice for yield preservation in cereals."
