Syngenta recognizes top AgriPro wheat seed associates in Plains region

Greensboro, North Carolina, USA
May 8, 2014

Syngenta recently recognized its top-performing AgriPro® brand wheat seed associates from the Plains for sales excellence and achievement at regional AgriPro wheat meetings. These meetings brought together leading seed associates for training and education, as well as to celebrate business successes.

“We celebrate our associates as they play a key role for Syngenta and our seeds business. Awards are given based on sales volume, as well as associates’ commitment to producing top-quality, certified wheat seed for sale in their region.” said Greg McCormack, Syngenta key account manager of the Plains region. “We continue to offer training for our associates as their agronomic and product knowledge helps them provide the best local recommendations and service to help wheat growers achieve maximum yield and profit potential.”

Syngenta works with a network of local associates because of their experience and expertise in wheat. At the regional meetings, Syngenta announced new seed varieties that will be released to the associates for planting this fall. Each year, new varieties are released as registered seed to associates, who then grow the varieties and market them to growers the following year as certified seed. With their knowledge of varieties and seed production, the associates are equipped to help growers select seed varieties that are suited for their specific farming operations, pest profiles, soil types and management practices.

Syngenta also provided updates on and reviewed the performance of current crop protection products, such as CruiserMaxx® Vibrance® Cereals seed treatment insecticide/fungicide, Quilt Xcel® fungicide and Palisade® EC plant growth regulator.  With the associates’ knowledge and expertise of these products, they can better instruct their customers on how to implement an integrated management plan and ultimately grow wheat more profitably. Additionally, Syngenta highlighted the importance of using certified seed, featuring AgriPro brand hard red winter wheat seed varieties, SY Southwind, SY Wolf, AP503 CL2 and TAM 111.

These locally-adapted Syngenta wheat seed varieties offer high yield potential, good test weights and high quality grain while maintaining consistency under a wide range of conditions. To qualify as certified seed, strict production and conditioning standards must be maintained. Detailed records are kept of all treatments applied to each field and they are subject to random inspections. Certified seeds are laboratory tested and must meet the industry standards of the certification program. Certified seed has consistently demonstrated its value through performance in increased yield and profit potential. Kansas State University explains the value of certified seed in the bulletin “Economic Issues with Certified and Farmer Saved Wheat Seed.”

To equip AgriPro brand seed associates to deliver varieties that address growers’ needs and to meet the growing global wheat demand, Syngenta has continued to make it a priority to produce high-quality varieties available as certified seed.
