On 3 and 4 July 2014, Rijk Zwaan Ibérica introduced its new melon and watermelon varieties to its chain partners. Visitors from all over the world travelled to Cartagena to see the new concepts for themselves.

These two days were organised around the central theme of innovation and collaboration in the food chain. Purchasers, retailers, distributors and marketers came together to experience the all-year-round varieties for three production areas: Central America, Africa and Europe. Special attention went to the Sandissima watermelon which was presented with various skin types.

“We can look back on a very successful event,” says Diego Maestre, Crop Coordinator Melon at Rijk Zwaan. “The visitors particularly appreciated having the possibility to see all our different varieties and types of melon, and to discuss the opportunities with our specialists.”
