Apply for Nuffic Scholarships for PVP Course in 2015

The 18th Plant Variety Protection Course will be held from June 15th till June 26th 2015 in Wageningen, the Netherlands. Participants who wish to qualify for a scholarship through Nuffic must already register before 21 October 2014.

Plant Variety Protection Course

The foundation for successful global expansion and export in the field of agriculture and horticulture is the protection of your plant varieties. Since not all countries have a legal framework in which plant varieties are protected under a system of intellectual property rights, this can lead to illegal exploitation. To underline the importance of Plant Breeders’ Rights in these countries, Naktuinbouw has developed the Plant Variety Protection Course.

The Plant Variety Protection Course, held from 16 June to 27 June 2014, was once again a huge success this year. The 16 participants from 13 different countries returned home with plenty of new insights and knowledge.

UPOV principles

This course, which is given in English, is based on the UPOV principles. It focuses on the implementation of plant variety protection in countries where legislation is being developed, has recently been adopted, or in countries that are considering developing a system. More information about this course can be found in the brochure.

Scholarships

A limited number of scholarships are available from Nuffic, the Netherlands organisation for international cooperation in higher education. For residents of certain countries, Nuffic can offer NFP scholarships via the Netherlands Fellowship Programme (NFP) for the PVP course. Nuffic also offers a StuNed scholarship especially for residents of Indonesia or a MENA scholarship for residents of Algeria, Iraq, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman and Tunisia.

If you want to apply for a scholarship you must meet a number of criteria. Please visit for more information about the NFP scholarships, the StuNed scholarships or the MENA scholarships.

Apply

For a NFP, MENA or StuNed scholarship apply directly at Centre for Development Innovation, Wageningen UR via www.wageningenur.nl/cdi. You will receive a confirmation and more information within a week. Early application is recommended as some procedures to finalize subscription (f.e. funding, visa) can take some time. After that, applications for a scholarship must be submitted by registering in Atlas, the application system of Nuffic that will open at September 4. In the received admission letter you will find a weblink for Atlas. As application takes time and requires several documents, we recommend you to start it as soon as possible.

Application Deadlines

  • The NFP, MENA and StuNed Scholarship application deadline is 21 October 2014.
  • 17 April 2015 is the admission deadline for application directly to Centre for Development Innovation, Wageningen UR with funding other than Nuffic Scholarships.
