Nigeria - Supply agreement signed between Syngenta Crop Protection AG and the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA)

In July 2014, the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) signed a Supply Agreement for Nigeria with Syngenta Crop Protection AG that will expire on 31 December 2017. The
Agreement consists of two Statements of Work (SOWs) for
- (i) provision of field trial services, and
- (ii) a skills development program for Syngenta staff and partners.
IITA’s collaboration with Syngenta aims (i) to make available quality seeds of adapted Syngenta maize and vegetable hybrids and appropriate cost-effective production packages for use by farmers in Nigeria to improve their production. Under this SOW, Syngenta will provide IITA with hybrid seeds, crop protection products, and standard crop protocols to carry out variety trials on IITA sites in Nigeria.
Syngenta retains the full ownership of the samples, results, and related intellectual property (IP) rights. Under the second SOW (ii) IITA will provide professional development and training to Syngenta staff and its partners, with a view to increasing skills, knowledge, and capacity to deliver more effective client services.
