August 11, 2014
The December Seed Business 101 SM – Field Crops course is offered in conjunction with the American Seed Trade Association Corn & Sorghum Seed Research Conference (December 9-12, 2014).
This one week class is designed to expose the participants to the five functional areas of a seed company (R&D, production, operations, sales and marketing; and administration). By creating a virtual seed company and case studies for each functional area, the program content is delivered in a very interactive way. The course gives participants a broad understanding of the major aspects of a seed company’s operations and cross-departmental knowledge of best practices for profitability. The class is taught by widely respected industry executives with additional help of industry experts participating as guest speakers.
Seed Business 101 is offered by the UC Davis Seed Biotechnology Center. It was created with input from industry executives to accelerate the careers of promising employees new to the seed industry. The course has been offered since fall of 2010 and already attended by over 300 seed professionals.
The early-bird registration closes on October 3, 2014. For details, testimonials and registration please visit http://sbc.ucdavis.edu/education/seed_business_fieldcrops.html or contact Sally Mohr at sjmohr@ucdavis.edu.
