David Lane joins Limagrain Cereal Seeds

Fort Collins, Colorado, USA
October 1, 2014

The new Regional Sales Manager brings extensive agricultural background and localized expertise to the team

David Lane, LCS Regional Sales Manager — East & SouthDavid Lane has joined Limagrain Cereal Seeds (LCS) to lead the company’s sales efforts for the Eastern and Southern United States as Regional Sales Manager. The position was created as a result of LCS’s continued commitment to serving its customers’ business and agronomic needs.

Lane brings 20 years of experience in the agriculture industry to his new position, including roles in the seed industry, crop protection, trait marketing, customer relationship management and e-connectivity solutions. In his most recent position with AGDATA, Lane identified the need for and subsequently led efforts to develop, launch and promote AgCelerate Stewardship — now an industry standard software platform that facilitates the management of technology license agreements across the seed industry.

As LCS Regional Sales Manager, he markets soft red winter wheat varieties developed by Dr. Don Obert, LCS Wheat Breeder for the Midwest and Eastern region. Lane’s territory spans Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Virginia and the whole Eastern Seaboard.

“Growers and seedsmen alike are still learning who we are and what we have to offer in the Eastern United States,” Lane explains. “My job is to introduce LCS and our high quality germplasm to the market, create brand recognition and provide product support to our customers.”

Lane works from his home office in Charlotte, North Carolina — a location that allows him easy access to the Eastern and Southern states as well as the ability to provide individualized service.

“It makes a difference having someone there who is familiar with the local agronomic conditions,” asserts Lane, who anticipates close collaboration with LCS breeders to continue development of varieties best suited to his market’s geographies, soils and diverse growing conditions and complexities. “I’m serving customers at a very localized level.”

Lane doesn’t mind running for his clients. He’s an avid runner in his spare time, participating in half and full marathons regularly. He also enjoys boating, waterskiing and travelling with his four children.

“LCS is pleased to have David on the commercial sales team,” says Frank Curtis, LCS Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. “He has a unique combination of experience that will prove invaluable as we expand into new regions, enter more state trials and serve a wider range of growers.”

Lane can be reached for LCS sales inquiries at david.lane@limagrain.com or (704) 770-7553.

Group Limagrain was founded in France in 1942. The farmer-owned company is the largest seed company in the European Union. Limagrain Cereal Seeds (LCS) was established in 2010 as Group Limagrain’s first American operation for cereal breeding. Centrally located in Fort Collins, Colorado, LCS is dedicated to developing new, improved wheat varieties for the world’s fourth largest wheat market, the United States. The company has research stations in North Dakota, Washington, Indiana and Kansas, as well as partnerships with more than 25 land grant universities across the country.
