Inspiring products and visitors at Bejo’s Open Days

Warmenhuizen, The Netherlands
October 7, 2014

Last week Bejo Zaden held its Open Days. The attendance of over 3000 visitors from all over the world made this a highly successful event. The seed company offered its customers precisely the right ingredients for innovating their own crops and marketing strategies so that they can make the most of Bejo’s vegetable seeds.

Bejo’s Open Days are an ideal opportunity for networking with different parties in the vegetable chain. Bejo knows just how important a wide network spanning the entire chain is for the development of innovative products and concepts. This week proved to be perfect for discussions between growers, traders, retailers and people active in the processing industry.

Innovative concepts

This year a lot of attention was paid to the Coolwrap concept, a product that is now available in various Dutch supermarkets. Visitors were enthusiastic about the distinctive flat white cabbage and the unique concept of pre-cut cabbage leaves. In the central marquee Coolwrap featured on the menu in the cooking demonstration, enabling visitors to sample its mild, neutral flavour. New this year was a presentation of celery as a snack vegetable. Bejo has developed new varieties with long stems and leaves high up the stems, making the production of celery sticks for use as snacks more interesting.

Comprehensive mechanisation show

Impressively, a total of 50 companies made Bejo’s mechanisation show highly diverse and fascinating. Several companies had organised demonstrations. The fully automatic planting machine developed by Plant Tape attracted a lot of attention as it worked across the demonstration field. Harvesting equipment that leaves roads clean was also a talking point duringthe week.

International guests from all parts of the vegetable sector inspired each other and Bejo by exchanging experiences. So all in all Bejo looks back on last week with great satisfaction.
