IP in Ag Innovation Series: Crop protection

October 10, 2014

IP Protects Our Crops

Did you know in just a single acre of crop land there can be up to 300 million weed seeds in the ground? That’s hundreds of millions of plants waiting to grow and compete with a farmers crop for sunlight, water,  and nutrients. On top of that, there are over 10,000 species of insects, carrying countless diseases, waiting to eat the crop once it sprouts. It’s no wonder that farmers have been looking to new innovations to battle pests for thousands of years.

Modern crop protection products have provided the best tools farmers have ever had for tackling weeds, insects and diseases. They used targeted methods that ensure farmers can control specific pests efficiently and effectively, which helps ensure a healthy and abundant harvest. It’s an incredible advancement in agriculture.

Learn more about the history of crop protection and modern methods in our new Ag Innovation Infographic: Crop Protection.
