UC Davis European Plant Breeding Academy Class 4 is open for registration, the class size is limited

Davis, California, USA
October 20, 2014

The UC Davis Plant Breeding Academy (PBA) is a premium professional certificate program designed to address the needs of plant breeders working in the private sector.  The course is offered on a regular basis in the USA and Europe, with special sessions in Asia and Africa.  Seed companies have expressed a high-level of satisfaction and repeatedly enrolled breeders in the class.  To date, the academies have been attended by 148 breeders from over 60 organizations representing 34 countries, making it the most significant program of its kind.

The fourth class of the European Plant Breeding Academy will start in October 2015 and is now open for registration. The 2015 course will maintain the core curriculum delivered in the previous classes and add modules to address the most recent developments in plant breeding theory and practice, including an expanded section on the use of genomic information in breeding, advanced experimental designs and GxE, for example. The list of the core instructors will be expanded to include Dr. Rita Mumm, University of Illinois and Dr. Todd Wehner, North Carolina State University, both regular instructors in the USA PBA. The format of the academy allows us to move the sessions to different countries and expose the participants to variety of crops and environments.

Employers appreciate the opportunity to provide their valued employees advanced training without disrupting their full-time employment. Participants attend six 6-day sessions over approximately two years.

A discount is available for registrations before March 31, 2015.
