USA - Mid-South producers top 100 bushel wheat yields with AgriMAXX wheat varieties

Throughout the Mid-South, AgriMAXX wheat producers broke yield barriers with large fields producing more than 100 bushels per acre. Pictured in the center is Gregory, Arkansas AgriMAXX producer Perry Galloway with his 100 Bushel Club plaque. AgVenture Yield Specialists Lindley Gilliaum, of Augusta (left) and Randy Marsh, of McCrory, Arkansas (right) made the presentation at Dulaney Seed’s Summer Profit Workshop held at Clarksdale, Mississippi.

Producing more than 100 bushels to the acre wheat yields was a rarity just a few years ago. This year, Mascoutah, Illinois based AgriMAXX™ Wheat Co, LLC has acknowledged producers across the country and throughout the Mid-South for producing yields topping that 100 bushel to the acre mark on multiple large fields.

AgriMAXX Wheat Vice President Matt Wehmeyer said, “We established the AgriMAXX 100 Bushel Club to recognize growers for advancing their yields. Boosting wheat yields to this level is a significant milestone. Growers deserve the recognition for their achievement.” He added, “Wheat yields across the Eastern US and Mid-South tend to average in the mid-60’s. Many of our AgriMAXX customers have goals nearly double the national average. It’s exciting.”

Recently, Clarksdale, Mississippi-based Dulaney Seed Company awarded 100 Bushel Club plaques to many of their wheat customers. Dulaney Seed’s CEO, Terry Dulaney said, “We were very pleased to acknowledge 100 bushel plus production for so many of our Mid-South wheat customers. We have been in the seed business a long time and have a deep appreciation for excellence in seed varieties and production techniques. The AgriMAXX varieties are proving themselves in numerous environments.”

Many AgriMAXX Mid-South wheat customers echo the comments of David Barton of Raymond, Mississippi, who has been raising wheat for 30 years. “We had the best wheat crop we have ever had.” Across his 600 acres of wheat, Barton said this year’s yields were excellent. “We made the 100 Bushel Club and topped it by ten more bushels for an average of 110 bushels to the acre on one 73 acre field. Overall, we did very well with the AgriMAXX 413. It is just a superior variety. It established a very nice stand, stood up well, and produced a high yield, high test weight and high quality crop.”

Paul Muirhead of Anguilla, Mississippi joined the 100 Bushel Club with yields of 108 bushel to the acre in just his second year of raising wheat. He said, “We had a wet winter but the wheat came out of it just fine. We did manage our fields closely, and monitored fertilizer. We noticed in side-by-side comparisons, the AgriMAXX wheat really tillered out better than anything else. We were very pleased how the seed and management worked together to produce a consistent, high-yielding wheat crop.”

Brian Barham, also based in Anguilla, Mississippi also farms in Louisiana. He made the Club with an 80-acre field that yielded 107 bushels per acre. “We were very pleased with our yields. The seed was great – very clean and even in size and treatment. We managed our fertilizer and used a fungicide. We were pleased with my best wheat yields ever in 2014 in both Louisiana and Mississippi. I will be planting AgriMAXX again.”

When asked why yields increasing so dramatically, Wehmeyer said, “First, it’s about the seed. Our passion is delivering high yielding wheat varieties. We have focused intently on selecting only the best elite lines. Secondly, we have identified and shared with our customers specific, practical wheat crop management techniques that help them make the most of the genetics. Our ability to combine these factors has pushed wheat yields to a whole new level.”
