This webinar will walk the participant through the primary standard germination and vigor tests used to evaluate seed corn quality.
The principles of each test will be discussed, along with baseline quality levels and interactions that may occur.
Two standard germination test methods will be discussed, including the tray method on crepe cellulose paper and the sand method.
Also included is a review of seedling morphology and how tissue structures are influenced by variables in the germination regime.
Four vigor tests will also be reviewed, including the tray cold, saturated cold, accelerated aging and the electrical conductivity.
About Our Presenter
Tim Gutormson has 35 years in seed testing, understanding the seed from the inside out to the field, developing and designing testing programs to assist seed producers for advancements in their operations.
He serves as consultant to seed producers and seed associations for changes in conditioning processes or clarification of seed testing rules to improve the industry.
He also conducts workshops on soybean, wheat, corn and seed supply, and teaches webinars on seed production + seed biology.
