Bayer CropScience has completed the acquisition of certain DuPont Crop Protection Land Management assets in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia and New Zealand. The transaction closed on December 1, 2014, following receipt of required antitrust approvals.
The acquisition significantly boosts Bayer CropScience’s non-agricultural pest and weed control business. "We are striving to further expand the leadership position of Environmental Science, and this acquisition is a milestone which underlines our growth ambitions," said Bayer CropScience CEO Liam Condon. "Through this acquisition we become a leader in Industrial Vegetation Management in North America and globally and will continue to build a best-in-class, innovative platform for future product launches and risk management solutions."
Pro-forma sales of the combined businesses in 2013 amounted to approximately EUR 80 million, with DuPont’s Land Management business in North America, Mexico, Australia and New Zealand contributing approximately EUR 50 million. Additionally, 16 employees from DuPont will join the Bayer Industrial Vegetation Management team in the United States.
The acquisition strategically complements Bayer CropScience’s current product portfolio and allows the company to gain access to the growing Forestry and Range & Pasture business segments in North America. Land managers and utility foresters will now profit from a comprehensive weed control portfolio, comprising established and innovative herbicides marketed under brand names such as Esplanade™, Perspective™, Streamline™, Escort™ and Cimarron™.

Bayer CropScience hat die Akquisition von Landmanagement-Vermögenswerten von DuPont Crop Protection in den USA, Kanada, Mexiko, Australien und Neuseeland abgeschlossen. Die Transaktion wurde zum 1. Dezember 2014 nach dem Erhalt der erforderlichen Genehmigungen der Kartellbehörden vollzogen.
Der Erwerb gibt dem Schädlings- und Unkrautbekämpfungs-Geschäft von Bayer CropScience außerhalb der Landwirtschaft einen zusätzlichen Schub. "Wir streben an, die führende Position von Environmental Science weiter auszubauen. Diese Akquisition ist ein weiterer Meilenstein und unterstreicht unsere Wachstumsambitionen", sagte Liam Condon, Vorstandsvorsitzender von Bayer CropScience. "Durch diese Akquisition werden wir zu einem führenden Anbieter im Bereich Industrielles Vegetationsmanagement in Nordamerika und weltweit. Und wir werden weiter daran arbeiten, eine innovative, branchenführende Plattform für zukünftige Produkteinführungen und Risikomanagement-Lösungen aufzubauen."
Die kombinierten Pro-forma-Umsätze betrugen im Geschäftsjahr 2013 rund 80 Millionen Euro, wobei das Landmanagement-Geschäft von DuPont in Nordamerika, Mexiko, Australien und Neuseeland rund 50 Millionen Euro dazu beitrug. Des Weiteren werden 16 Mitarbeiter von DuPont übernommen und verstärken das Industrial Vegetation Management-Team von Bayer in den USA.
Die Akquisition stellt eine strategische Ergänzung des aktuellen Produktportfolios von Bayer CropScience dar. Das Unternehmen erhält Zugang zu den wachsenden Geschäftssegmenten Forstwirtschaft und Weideflächen in Nordamerika. Landbewirtschafter und Förster werden nun von einem umfassenden Portfolio von Unkrautbekämpfungsmitteln profitieren - mit etablierten und innovativen Herbiziden, die unter Markennamen wie Esplanade™, Perspective™, Streamline™, Escort™ und Cimarron™ vertrieben werden.
