INCOTEC launches second generation X.ray seed upgrading

Enkhuizen, The Netherlands
December 16, 2014

On 16th of December INCOTEC launched version 2.0 of its pioneering X-ray seed upgrading technology. Accumulated seed analysis expertise and experience with X-ray upgrading technology has resulted in the development of an improved second-generation system for better, quicker, cost efficient and flexible seed upgrading using X-ray imaging-based technology. INCOTEC has developed X-ray 2.0 for tomato and rootstock tomato to offer the competitive markets an upgrading technique to enhance seed further and yield more useable transplants.

Seed upgrading systems are used to select seeds that will give uniform plants of top quality. INCOTEC’s X-ray upgrading analyzes every seed in a batch independently and selects and sorts them seed for seed based on the individual images of their interior structure.

X-ray 2.0 is the follow-up to the ground-breaking upgrading system developed by INCOTEC and first made commercially available in 2007. It was a revolutionary high-tech upgrading system then and remains today the most cutting-edge technique available for high-end seed upgrading. The experience accumulated since the introduction of this technology along with optimized software and improved algorithms have resulted in further development of the technology. X-ray 2.0 will increase the percentage of useable transplants reducing costs and increasing efficiency in the production process.

Alexander van der Heiden, Global Commercial Manager Vegetables: ”As well as reducing the lead time and the overall flexibility of the process, the most significant improvement we have made is the increase in top quality seeds. We are excited to be able to offer our customers a more efficient upgrading and even better value for money.”
