USDA/APHIS announces deregulation of Monsanto Company’s genetically engineered soybeans and cotton

Washington, DC, USA
January 15, 2015

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) announces determinations of nonregulated status for Monsanto Company’s (Monsanto) soybeans and cotton that are resistant to certain herbicides, including one known as dicamba. This notice also includes the availability of our written determinations and Record of Decision (ROD).

Notice of these determinations will be published in the Federal Register in the near future. A copy of the Monsanto petitions, determinations, ROD, and supporting documents can be found on the News and Information page of the BRS website at http://www.aphis.usda.gov/biotechnology/news.

EPA is nearing completion of its concurrent review of the new use of the related herbicides on these GE plants. It is expected that EPA will make its proposed regulatory decision in the coming months.
