Cheminova's Topguard fungicide receives Section 18 for use on cotton in Texas for 2015

Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, USA
January 30, 2015

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has granted a Section 18 emergency use exemption to Texas for the use of TOPGUARD® Fungicide that permits cotton growers in Texas to use TOPGUARD at planting to control cotton root rot, a devastating disease that can cause direct yield losses of as much as $40 million per year.

“The 2015 season will be the fourth year that TOPGUARD has received the Section 18 in Texas,” says Deneen Sebastian, marketing director for Cheminova, Inc, the maker of TOPGUARD Fungicide.

This emergency use is effective February 1, 2015 and expires on June 30, 2015. Anyone applying TOPGUARD for cotton root rot control must have copy of the TOPGUARD Fungicide Section 18 Exemption label on hand during application. Details on application methods can be found on the Cheminova website.

Growers are encouraged to contact their local crop protection dealer, check the Texas Department of Agriculture website or check out the Cheminova website for more details.

Cheminova, Inc., headquartered in Research Triangle Park, N.C., is the U.S. subsidiary of Cheminova A/S located in Denmark. Cheminova is a global company in the production, development and sale of plant protection products in more than 100 countries.
