  • Offers business curriculum in financial management, delegation skills, negotiating and more
  • Application deadline is Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2015
Golf course superintendents seeking to enhance their business acumen can now apply for the 2015 Syngenta Business Institute™ (SBI). Through SBI, Syngenta partners with the nationally-ranked Wake Forest University School of Business to provide superintendents with heightened business and managerial skills.

The seventh annual SBI will take place Dec. 7-10, 2015, in Winston-Salem, N.C. Syngenta receives more than 80 applications annually, and approximately 25 superintendents are chosen to attend the program.

Selected participants will learn business management practices presented by Wake Forest University faculty, such as: financial management, managing generational and cultural differences, delegation skills, effective communication, and negotiation tactics. To be considered, candidates must complete the application, which includes an essay on why they should be selected, relevant professional experience and educational background.

“The Syngenta Business Institute is first class from start to finish,” says Jeff White, superintendent at Indian Hills Country Club in Mission Hills, Kansas, who attended SBI in 2014. “I would highly recommend the Syngenta Business Institute to anyone aspiring to be a better business person and asset to their facility.”

For more than six years, superintendents have recognized this program for its effectiveness and impact on their careers.

“The Syngenta Business Institute was the most beneficial educational event that I have attended in my career,” says Jason Busch, superintendent at The Powder Horn Golf Club in Sheridan, Wyoming. “Shortly upon returning from SBI, I was able to apply much of the knowledge I learned, and I look forward to working with our assistant superintendents to further develop our team.”

To learn more about the Syngenta Business Institute and how you can apply, please visit GreenCastonline.com/SBI or contact your local Syngenta territory manager. Completed SBI applications are due Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2015. Participants will be notified of their acceptance into the 2015 Syngenta Business Institute in October.
