Source: Naktuinbouw

Employees of the Variety Testing Department give a training from 20 till 30 April in the field of plant variety protection. The training is in Africa, Tanzania. There are 28 participants from ARIPO countries (African Regional Intellectual Property Organization).

These are countries such as Kenya, Zambia, Sierra Leone, Uganda, Botswana, Malawi, Tanzania, Ghana, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Senegal and Namibia. UPOV finances the training thanks to a donation from the Dutch government in order to help the Plant Breeders' Rights system in the ARIPO region in Africa to a higher level. The training is based on the PVP training given annually in Wageningen and covers all facets of variety testing. On monday the first general introduction was launched. Later the program concentrates on the various administrative and technical procedures.
