Bejo Seeds Inc. sponsor of “Healthy Flavors, Healthy Kids 2015"

USA
June 15, 2015

Healthy Flavors, Healthy Kids 2015 was an invitation-only event which took place May 5-7 in San Antonio, Texas. Registration was only open to school food service professionals who receive a personalized invitation, and invitations are non-transferable.

For the third year in a row Bejo Seeds Inc. participated in this very worthwhile event. This year Bejo was a Bronze sponsor which allowed us to present and showcase Tasti-Lee, SweetHeart Lettage, Gunma and Kool Robbi to this very select group of foodservice professionals.

Well-known Chef Scott Samuel, full-time Chef Instructor at The Culinary Institute of America in Napa Valley, created several recipes using Bejo products. Attendees were served a Tasti-Lee tomato asparagus salad with kohlrabi croutons, an Asian Orange SweetHeart Lettage salad and Gunma wraps.

Jeff Trickett, Bejo’s Director of Sales & Marketing, was a panelist in a Breakout session called Best Practices for Purchasing Local foods. Panelists and attendees discussed programs around the country which bring more local foods into schools.

The Culinary Institute of America (CIA), widely regarded as the world's leading culinary college, has long been committed to advancing healthier food choices in society. Since 2004, the CIA has been working with partners at Harvard to host national conferences that promote healthful eating. In 2011, the CIA expanded its mission to advance healthier food choices through its new Healthy Flavors, Healthy Kids initiative, beginning with a national, invitational culinary and nutrition leadership summit held at the CIA's new San Antonio, Texas campus. The core of the initiative focuses on culinary insights and actions around K-12 school foodservice.
