Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia
June 27, 2015

Richard Dickmann, Head of New Business Development at Bayer CropScience Australia has been recognised for his abiding service to Australian horticulture with the AUSVEG Industry Leader Award at the National Awards for Excellence.

AUSVEG is the leading horticultural body representing Australia’s 9,000 vegetable and potato growers.

AUSVEG CEO Richard Mulcahy congratulated the renowned industry figure on the achievement for his longstanding contributions for Australian horticulture.

“The Industry Leader Award is a distinctive award from the others that have been announced during the Awards for Excellence, as it is not awarded annually,” said Mr Mulcahy.

“Instead, this special award is only given when an outstanding candidate is identified for their passionate and tireless work on behalf of the interests of the Australian vegetable and potato industries. Richard Dickmann unquestionably fulfils the criteria, and lives up to the reputation of industry leaders who have previously received this award.”

Mr Dickmann has been a long-term contributor to the Australian vegetable industry, having served on numerous advisory panels that help inform the direction of research and development funding priorities, and has acted as a valuable point of contact for growers.

“Richard Dickmann is widely-renowned throughout all sectors of the industry for his dedication and valuable advice, and is a highly-regarded, well-respected and influential figure,” said Mr Mulcahy.

“He is a worthy recipient of this award and I congratulate him on his many achievements. I am sure he will continue to make valuable contributions to the industry for many years to come.”

The 2015 National Awards for Excellence Gala Dinner was held at Jupiters Gold Coast on Saturday 27 June, and honoured growers and other members of the Australian vegetable. potato, apple and pear industries for outstanding achievements in their respective fields.

The event was the capstone event of the 2015 National Horticulture Convention, incorporating AUSVEG and Apple and Pear Australia Limited, which attracted around 1,400 local and international delegates.
